This Moose Creek town home in Teton Village very well might be the valley’s best vacation pad for a big family, especially one coming to Jackson Hole for a ski vacation. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort’s Moose Creek Lift—a quad—is only a couple of hundred feet away from this front door. Inside this informal home is a shared living-dining-kitchen area, a private master suite, two bedroom suites each with two twin beds, and, just inside the front door, an office converted into a cozy bunk room with two twin-size bunks. The 2,000 square foot home sleeps up to eight people very comfortably.
Arriving at Moose Creek 4, summer or winter, you’ll be greeted by a stack of split firewood taller than you. In summer, a seasonal stream flows past the front porch. Year-round, it’s possible deer might greet you—they’re all over this neighborhood; less-spotted wildlife (but still sometimes spotted) include moose, fox and black bears.
The cozy, mountain vibe continues when you walk inside. The wood-burning fireplace in the upstairs great room is made from rock. Its mantle is decorated with a pair of antique skis. Cathedral ceilings showcase oversize, hand-hewn log beams. Artwork, which is generally fun and informal, highlights wildlife and the local culture (think a lithograph of a deer dressed in a suit or a photo of the waffle shack at the top of JHMR’s tram). A taxidermied head of a moose hangs in the great room.
It’s not just the number of twin and bunk beds in this property that make it great for families, but also the fact that this home’s public space has the whole upper floor to itself. This allows for maximally easy hanging out and entertaining, and undisturbed sleeping—there are no bedrooms on this top level.
After you notice the bar cart in a corner by the door leading to an east-facing deck, and sink into the leather sofa it’s possible you’ll decide the Village’s best après ski scene is the one right here, in your house. (Did we mention there’s also an 8-person, private hot tub on the ground-level patio?) The kitchen has an efficient, open design and stainless steel appliances. There’s seating at an island for four and for six at the dining table.
With its top floor devoted to hangout space, bedrooms are on the middle and ground floors. You enter this home at ground level, but, because it’s set into a small hillside, walking down the flight of stairs just inside the entrance doesn’t take you to a basement, but rather to another ground floor. Both bedrooms on this level—these are the two suites with twin beds—have full windows and an abundance of natural light. One of them even has a door that opens to the outside, and to the patio with the hot tub.
The master suite is the most private of the bedrooms, having the eastern half of the middle level all to itself. Like the great room above, the majority of light and views in the master come from the east. Look out from either one and you see in the distance the Gros Ventre Mountains, the range opposite the Tetons.
Teton Village’s Moose Creek town homes are one of several town home/condo developments at the southern base of the ski area and are the closest homes to the Moose Creek lift. The main base area is about a 10 minute walk (less than five minutes on skis). Guests staying in a Moose Creek town home have access to the Sundance Tennis and Swim Club, which has a seasonal (summer only) heated pool and three tennis courts and year-round two hot tubs and changing rooms.
