Lisdonagh Manor House is a period vacation rental in Galway with nine sympathetically restored ensuite bedrooms, generous living space and modern conveniences. It is an ideal holiday rental on the west coast of Ireland. It is the perfect base for exploring the Wild Atlantic Way and for those passionate about fishing in the west of Ireland. A beech lined avenue leads to the front of the historic Lisdonagh Manor. The rustling trees immediately install a sense of relaxation and privacy. Our guests enjoy exclusive use of the Manor House during their stay and can relax in complete privacy. The reception rooms of the Manor House offer a great natural flow suiting multi generation family groups which may have different activity needs at different times.

The nearly 300 year old period entrance to Lisdonagh Manor leads to a curved hallway which features an original early Georgian mural depicting the four virtues of valor, chastity, beauty and justice (currently undergoing restoration). The ground floor has an elegant and spacious drawing room with open fire, separate Georgian dining room, small study or reading room and fully equipped kitchen. Dining can be self-catered or provided by your hosts on request. A sweeping original oak staircase leads to the first floor and 5 en-suite bedrooms with lake or garden views. There are an additional 4 en-suite bedrooms on the lower ground floor as well as the inviting Rafferty's Room which is an atmospheric stone clad snug with mini bar style facilities. Lisdonagh Manor has a long history of connections with famous Irish literary figures and each bedroom has been named after famous Irish writers and artists.

Our Family have our own ponies and for guests hiring the Manor House on an exclusive basis, we offer complimentary fishing in our private lake. Heritage Villas (Lughnasa and Inisfree):
Lughnasa Villa (Sleeps 4)
Two story’s with under floor heating on the ground floor as well as a compact galley style kitchen and beautiful antique furnishings. Ideal for friends and families, Lughnasa has two double bedrooms (king size & queen size beds) and two bathrooms. Lughnasa is an ancient Celtic Festival, the first of three harvest festival and said to be created by the Celtic God ‘Lugh’. The month of August is also called Lunasa in Gaelic and it marks the last days of summer. In keeping with the Lisdonagh tradition of naming rooms after Irish literary figures, the naming of the Lughnasa Villa was inspired by Brian Friel’s “Dancing at Lughnasa” play.

Inisfree Villa (Sleeps 4)
Inisfree is an attractively designed holiday apartment in Galway. On the ground floor there is a large sitting room with plush period furnishings and wood burning stove. A small but fully fitted galley kitchen is adjacent to the sitting room. Upstairs there are two bedrooms, one very spacious double bedroom and a twin bedroom – both en-suite. The villa takes its name from the beautiful poem by Irish poet, William Butler Yeats “The Lake Isle of InisFree”. The poem was written in 1888 and was inspired by an uninhabited island in County Sligo. As Yeats walked through the bustling streets of London, he longed for the peace and tranquility of his homeland. With our 200 acres, private lake and woodland walks, we can assure you that at Lisdonagh you shall have ‘some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow‘.

The Coach House (Sleeps 6)
Previously the estate’s stables, the two story, 3 bedroom Coach House was beautifully renovated and has both period features and modern comforts. It comprises a large contemporary kitchen and breakfast room, under floor heating, a spacious sitting room complete with stove and TV including both Irish and UK channels as well as a smaller study or games room. Upstairs there are three en-suite double bedrooms. We provide all the bed linen and beds are made up on arrival. We also provide towels. Bed configurations do have some flexibility and all requests must be confirmed in advance of your arrival.

Lisdonagh Estate is set in its own mature woodland with private lake and guests may avail of complimentary horse riding, fishing in our lake and rambling walks through our 200 acres of Irish countryside. Please note that our Georgian Manor House is only accessible to guests that have hired Lisdonagh Manor on an exclusive basis.

The Coach House and Heritage Courtyard Villas may be accessed via our beech lined drive and cars take the right at the Y to enter the Victorian courtyard. Parking is available directly outside the Coach House. Please note that guests staying in the Coach House or Heritage Villas do not have access to the Manor House. Overall, this self-catering accommodation in Galway provides the perfect setting for a family celebration or relaxing holiday.

Gate Lodge (Sleeps 4)
This wonderful self-catering cottage is located at the entrance to Lisdonagh Manor Estate. Set entirely over the ground floor, this holiday rental in Galway can sleep four people in two bedrooms with shared bathroom. The Gate Lodge also has a kitchen with dining area and a sitting room. Oil fired central heating with multi-fuel stove. Outside the cottage there is off road parking for two cars and a small garden with furniture and barbecue. Sleeps 4 guests.

The Gate Lodge has an electric oven and cooktop, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine, dishwasher. TV with Saorview Irish channels, DVD and a selection of books. Fuel, power and starter pack for multi- fuel stove included. Linen and towels provided. Pet friendly for 1 well behaved dog – Gate Lodge only. No smoking inside.

Keen fishermen will enjoy the close proximity to Lough Corrib and Lough Mask, known for trout and the fishing season runs from mid-February to end of September. A lovely activity for special interest groups and families, we can arrange certified guides to take you out on Lough Corrib (20 mins away) for fly fishing lessons or tours. The nearest shops and pubs are in the small town of Headford and the large grocery stores will deliver on request. For larger shopping options, gifts, fashion and Claddagh rings, Galway City is just 30 minutes by car.

Guests hiring Lisdonagh Manor House are assured of complete privacy and all facilities and parking are completely separate to the self-catering cottages and villas. However, should you require additional space, you may also enquire about renting our Heritage Villas, Coach House or Victorian Gate Lodge. All three options are well recognized as child friendly holiday cottages in Ireland. The two Heritage Villas both feature two double en-suite bedrooms and a travel cot may be requested in advance. The gallery style kitchen is perfect for short term lettings and the cozy sitting room is inviting and welcoming. Overall, Lisdonagh Estate in Galway is perfect for a family vacation and for guests tracing their Irish roots.

Please note: The Lisdonagh Manor House (Main House) is rented for exclusive use. However, the additional Heritage Villas, Coach House, and Victorian Gate Lodge can be rented independently. Unless, the entire estate is rented by one group which includes the Manor House (Main House), two Heritage Villas, Coach House and Victorian Gate Lodge.
