They say the Portuguese waters hold a mystery that lovers often find shown in the glimpse of the ships passing in the night.  The shores of Portugal from The Porto (North Portugal) where you can find history afoot while visiting local historical sites: Casa-Museu de Guerra Junqueiro and the Museum of Quinta da Macieirinha.  Or one could easily slip away to visit the city and visit the stock exchange and cathedral.  Or if you prefer Tras-os-Montes where you can do tons outside such as canoeing or mountain trekking.  On the North Coast of Minho you can discover amazing caves and superb beaches.

In the Coastal Region of Lisbon (The Capital) is someplace people call “enchanting,”  Strewn with Medieval graces, from part of a Fortress still standing, letting you know that you have come somewhere very special.  The area offers travelers a glimpse into where their ancestors lived and where you can find small cafes, shopping, and dining that will take your breath away.  Lisbon is known for attracting those who love to find the heart and soul of Portugal.  Additionally you may want to visit the Coast and the Algarve where many travelers love to stay in the villas and homes that sit nestled in walking distance or on the beach.  This area is also has beautiful sweeping cliffs and offers travelers these small towns to tour: Sesimbra, Peniche,Nazare, Alcobaca, Tomar, and Batalha.  And if you are looking for faith and your soul, you cannot miss Fatima where thousands gather during the holidays to experience masses that are given by famous Arch Bishop’s yearly. 

There is so much to do in Portugal and it doesn’t stop at the coast.  Portugal is also known for the Azores (the Caribbean of Europe) with it’s gorgeous volcanic springs, beautiful clustered islands, and private beaches that make you feel like you are the only one on the island.  This area is off the Coast of Spain and Portugal and about 600 miles out.  You can easily take a flight from Lisbon into a few of the larger islands and trek around by boat when you arrive.  Here are the list of Islands for you to notate: Consisting of nine islands, Azores is divided into three groups: the eastern side (Sao Miguel and Santa Maria islands), the central area (Terceira, Graciosa, Sao Jorge, Pico and Faial islands), and the western side (Flores and Corvo islands).
