Birkhill Castle is located in the Kingdom of Fife, overlooking the Firth of Tay and the home of the Earls of Dundee, the royal standard bearers of Scotland. The Earls of Dundee have lived at Birkhill Castle since the 18th century and in 1858 the Castle was itself enlarged and design delivered by the well-known Scottish baronial architect, David Bryce. Lord Dundee has made this stunning Castle now available for private exclusive use rental offering 10 double bedrooms, 2 singles and a larger nursery bedroom and most with own private bathrooms. Stunning views over the Estate and the River Tay estuary beyond makes this a magical setting for an array of events and occasions.

The beautiful bedrooms are made up of 2 super king premier ensuite bedrooms each with a single/dressing room. 3 super king and 1 king ensuite. 2 super king and 2 doubles sharing bathrooms and for those with children a wonderfully sweet nursery bedroom for up to 6 children. All bedrooms offer quality Egyptian cotton bedlinen, towels, and bathrobes. On the ground floor enjoy afternoon tea on arrival or drinks in the evening in the light filled drawing room. A welcome bar for your arrival ensures the party can commence. The drawing room links straight into our Library, and you are surrounded by the family’s collection of rare and historic books. Both rooms have lovely fires to make cozy and inviting in the colder months.

Dinner is then served in the chandelier-lit dining room and should you plan for some entertainment our ballroom can be used for a range of events. The dining table accommodates residents, but should guests wish to arrange a larger party and invite more guests we can accommodate this in the Ballroom. We recommend an array of excellent Chefs who have their own Chef’s kitchen. The Castle also has a lovely warm country kitchen where guests are welcome to use from making a coffee to feeding younger guests. You are welcome to combine a Chef and your own catering should you wish. Enjoy the complimentary welcome bar which guests can then re-stock as required. Bring your own champagne, wine, and spirits at no corkage charge.

Set amongst over 1,000 acres of stunning woodland and secluded paths lead you to our private tennis course, walled garden and, a must in the warmer months – our outdoor heated swimming pool. Better still take a walk down to our private beach and firepit and enjoy an evening BBQ under the stars. With towering ancient trees, red squirrels, otters, seals and even the occasional giant sea eagle soar overhead, every walk, and every day at Birkhill Castle and Estate will offer a wonderfully new and memorable experience. Further activities can be arranged with the help of the House Manager on site which include horse riding, fly-fishing, falconry, whisky tasting, clay pigeon shooting, archery, an afternoon of Highland Games, wildlife, and woodland tours and not least a good night of music and dancing with a traditional Scottish ceilidh and a piper.
