Villa Gioiello, Chianti Aretino, Tuscany, Italy Vacation Rental
Art collectors, wine and oil producers, international travellers and entrepreneurs, these owners have created the perfect, elegant, luxurious Tuscany villa, perched on its rolling hill, commanding all the surrounding landscape and its most treasured possessions: vineyards. It features interiors that are absolutely outstanding: the dining table with encrusted precious stones, crafted by expert artisans and tailor made alone has a value of tens of thousands. This is the perfect retreat for those who love Tuscany as well as luxurious, classic interiors with a contemporary twist.
This property is unique: one of Italy’s finest country villas, this grand Tuscan home is set in the heart of the Chianti Aretino, that stretch of photo-friendly landscapes of orange, yellow and green hills between Siena and Arezzo, surrounded by thousands of acres of magnificent grapevines and crop fields, with manicured gardens all around. The villa offers a panoramic view over its own estate, and represents the perfect sample of the countryside life in this area: nature is luscious, the exterior area is scented like flowers blossoming in spring and the entire experience it is quintessentially Italian.
The pleasure of silence, the enchanting surroundings, the possibility to hire a chef to prepare a simple salad with some fresh tomatoes from the back garden as well as a Michelin rated style like dinner, the proximity to several small villages with restaurants, bread shops, organic markets, artisan’s shops, hidden little churches and monuments, not to mention proximity to the most famous cities of Tuscany are all part of the best package and experience a villa traveller would want.
The Art collection, amassed largely by the owners' family, is evident throughout the main villa and includes some very rare pieces from the tenth century, so guests who appreciate history and art will be able to add the pleasure of being surrounded by such beauty as well as the impressive choice of materials - as for the table in marble, gold and lapis lazuli.
Blessed with beauty, wine and an unparalleled artistic legacy, Tuscany’s a region that largely lives up to its fame. Its fabled rolling landscape has long been considered the embodiment of rural chic, a favourite of foodies and wine lovers, while its cities harbour a significant slice of the world’s Renaissance art. Florence boasts more world-class art than many entire Countries. Famous for its hills outlined by endless rows of cypress trees, majestic castles, thermal spa towns, tiny medieval villages surrounded by olive groves, this is an idyllic region that also features gorgeous emerald green seaside as well as dramatic mountains, all in a very concentrated space. From the fashionable Mediterranean coast to the marble mountains of Carrara, often both visible from one same position, the chestnut forests of the Apennines, the Natural parks with lakes, canyons, thermal springs and grottoes, the luxuriant gardens of the Renaissance villas, olive groves and vines, Tuscany is a fantastic place to visit all year round.
Arezzo is the capital of the homonymous province in Tuscany, situated in the middle of three valleys: to the Nord there is the Casentino, to the North-West we found Valdarno and moving South there is Val di Chiana, with its rich wines and delicious meat. The whole province has its roots deep-buried into the history: the Etrurians once populated this place, followed by the Romans, which both left a trace of their architecture in the figure of the city. There are a lot of interesting sites-to-see: The Basilica di San Francesco with its beautiful frescos, made by Italian Renaissance painting masters; the Piazza Centrale (the main square of Arezzo) one of the most important Architectural complexes of Italy, which hosts the medieval heart of the city. This and furthermore could be found in Arezzo, that offers everything one expects from Tuscany: lovely surroundings, a warming hospitality, art and gourmet -directly from the countryside of Val di Chiana- without the background noise of too many tourists. A must to see is the big antiques fair, that happens every first weekend of the month: it gathers more than 500 sellers from all over the world. It's also to recommend La Giostra del Saracino, a medieval Joust that takes place in June and September: two days in which Piazza Grande fills with flag-wavers and jousting knights.
The roomy kitchen at the property is the perfect place for a private cooking lesson, where one can learn the secrets to preparing Tuscany's most traditional dishes. Before tying on their apron, we'll take guests through our kitchen garden to pick the ingredients for the lesson: vegetables, fruit, and herbs all raised organically, just like our own olive oil and wine. The estate is located in one of the most historically fascinating areas of Tuscany. The villa overlooks the scenic "calanchi", rolling hills which so caught Leonardo da Vinci's eye that he used this landscape as the background in both his "Mona Lisa" and his "Virgin of the Rocks". The stone on which Adam is seated in Michelangelo's depiction decorating the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel is also located just a short distance away, as is the largest painting by Vasari. This area holds monumental forests, churches built more than a thousand years ago, and the most romantic countryside in Tuscany. The Prada and Gucci outlets are also nearby (even fashion can be considered Art).
In less than an hour by car, covering an area of just 50 square kilometres, guests can visit Florence (accessible by train from nearby Montevarchi, so close it's almost a commuter route), Fiesole, Siena, Arezzo, Monte San Savino, Cortona, Pienza, Sansepolcro, Città di Castello, Anghiari, the Franciscan sanctuary of La Verna, and the hermitage at Camaldoli. Also, the Prada outlet is just 15 kilometers away and the Gucci outlet just 30 kilometers away
