Villa Le Cannicelle, Villammare, Italy Vacation Rental
Welcome to our dream vacation home on the Cilento Coast. Villa Le Cannicelle set above the lively town of Villammare is the perfect holiday place to sunbathe and take in the Mediterranean sea./p> Experience Cilento Coast at its finest - amidst charming gardens, endless terraces, sea views and a panoramic swimming pool with Villammare at your feet.
The villa is a modern, three-storey villa built in a traditional style, set 124 feet above sea level with stunning views stretching for miles along the Cilento coast. It is comfortably furnished in a contemporary style and each level is self-contained making it ideal for larger groups. Outside there is ample space for everyone to come together and enjoy the stunning sea views from one of the many terraces, lounge in the shade of a huge Mediterranean oak tree, soak up the sun around the pool, or enjoy a meal on the rustic ‘taverna’ dining terrace. All the accommodation have light, bright and airy atmospheres and are furnished in an original and elegant taste. It is the ideal solution for family meetings at the beachin Italy. It gives opportunities to share your holiday time with your beloved as well as keeping your own privacy when needed.
It is directly managed by the owners with great care and positioned on a panoramic hillside facing the sea, just 600 meters from "Santa Maria Le Piane" long sandy beach. The villa commands a spectacular Mediterranean vista - views stretching down to the farthest mountains of the Calabria region (the mountain range that soars above Diamante and Paola) on one side and as far as the Punta (Cape) of the Infreschi and the wild coastal tract bearing the same name between Scario and Marina di Camerota on the other side. Two thirds of the estate is covered with lush woodland thick with cork oak, a plant typical of the environmental niche stretching along the coastline of the Bay of Policastro between S. Marina and Sapri. Surrounded by a big enclosed garden, it is the perfect accommodation for families with children.
The villa is extremely spacious and well equipped with numerous terraces on which to relax with a glass of wine and soak in the views before dining together on the wonderful covered taverna area with its traditional Italian style wood-fired pizza oven and barbecue. A little piece of paradise for families and friends wishing to escape their busy city lives and experiencing the authentic Italian dolce vita and a truly memorable villa holiday at the beach.
Don't miss the opportunity to attend one or more cooking classes with the famous chef Maria Rina. She is an old-school master chef operating at her restaurant just 10 minutes driving from the villa. Prior arrangements you could also consider having her at the villa for your classes. Please don't hestitate to google about her.
As an exclusive service for guests staying at Villa Le Cannicelle, the local AVIS office can arrange one-way or return transfers from the airport to the villa. They can also deliver your rental car directly to the garden of the villa on the day of arrival. Please don't hesitate to ask for contact details of the local manager.
The "marina" of Villammare is less than 1 mile therefore you could go walking but car is recommended because the last part of the road to the villa is steep (that's the reason why the villa has such enjoyable views!). Villammare is lively at summer and there are bars, chalets, and shops. It is not a place spoiled by massive tourism and you will find a friendly athmosphere all around and an autentic glimpse of Italy. Restaurants in the surrounding as well as "trattorie" and "pizzerie" offer very good local food.
Moreover the Villa is in the "National Park of Cilento" (UNESCO world heritage) therefore you could have lots of excursions in evocative natural and historical sites, whether in the mountains or to the sea.
Private skippered boat can be arranged on request for trips to Sapri, Palinuro, Porto Infreschi, Acquafredda, Scario or Maratea beaches where you can watch the sunset or visit some of the many natural sea caves with their mesmerizing, colorful reflections. These are holiday memories to treasure for a lifetime. For those who like studying languages at the poolside, Italian classes at the villa are possible prior arrangements with the local teacher. Daily tours to Napoli, Pompei, Herculaneum, Matera are highly recommended. During summer months you could also reach the Amalfi Coast, Positano, Sorrento and the island of Capri by hydrofoil from Sapri harbour – the perfect way to enjoy a day on the Amalfi coast without staying in the tourist hustle and bustle!
Cilento, the southernmost area of Campania, has been included by UNESCO in the World Heritage List. In almost one hundred kilometers of coast there are cliffs overlooking the sea, golden beaches, wild and unspoilt landscapes, and large bays with fully equipped beach clubs. Cilento can boast some of the most beautiful seaside spots of Campania such as Palinuro, Scario, Ascea, Ogliastro, Paestum, Villammare and Camerota, all part of the Cilento National Park. An ancient cultural land that has long been identified as the cradle of the Mediterranean. You may have heard of the American biologist and nutritionist Ancel Keys.
In recent years, scientists from all over the world have been drawn to Cilento and Acciaroli to try to understand the secret of healthy aging, which means the area is on its way to qualifying as a scientifically confirmed blue zone, alongside the Japanese island of Okinawa, the Nicoya Peninsula in Costa Rica, Ogliastra in eastern Sardinia and the Greek island of Ikaria. As in the other blue zones, there is hardly just one reason why so many people are over 100 years old. For a long life a combination of healthy food, physical activity, stable social networks and a sense of meaning in life are all needed.
Inspired by the nutritional values and cuisine of countries around the Mediterranean Sea, the "Mediterranean Diet", recently named as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO, was born in Cilento.
In this fantastic land have been left the marks of the great history, indeed Cilento is universally renowed as the "Land of the Myth" because in the past it hosted important settlements of the Romans, Lucans and Greek. Today inside this limitless territory there are two imperious statements of antiquity: the archeological areas of Paestum and Velia, splendours from the classical period. The awe of history here is slightly stunning. It was here that the founder of Rome, Aeneas, is said to have made shore first in western Italy after the battle of Troy, and it is also said to be here along the coast that the sirens called on Odysseus with their songs. Whether it is the food, the herbs or the genes is yet to be completely determined, but one thing is for sure, there is certainly lust for life here.
The village of Villammare is an ancient fishing village at the foot of the extensive Cilento National Park which takes in one of the most attractive strip of the Tyrrhenian coast swathed by the vivid colours of the Mediterranean flora. Long sandy beaches, a colourful seafront fringed with palms and eucalyptus trees, small restaurants, cosy venues and cottages make of Villammare the perfect seaside resort for travellers from all over the world in search of friendly and charming spots off the beaten track. Breathtaking views from the hills covered with centuries-old cork oaks, trekking the mountains and cruising along the Cilento coast, mouth-watering regional cuisine and the special friendliness of the locals captivate visitors all year round. Daily tours to Napoli, Pompei, Herculaneum, Matera are available. During summer months guests can reach the Amalfi Coast, Ravello, Positano, Sorrento and the island of Capri as well as by hydrofoil from Sapri harbour.
